Our Draft Horses...

I have been riding Draft Horses since 1999 and have found they are actually my preferred horse for trail riding and showing in Western and English events. I also ride them in several parades throughout the summer.

I use Dressage to train them how to properly carry themselves and make them more light and sensitive to the aides.

There was actually an article about Dressage and Drafts in the Spring 2007 Draft Horse Journal that featured Merlin.

Currently I have Merlin a grey, 1998 Percheron Gelding.  Merlin has won first place in Draft Horse Under saddle at the West Virginia State Fair:  2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, and 2010.   What an accomplishment, plus every year the classes had 7 to 12 Draft Horses competing!

Spectators love watching my big guys, they always seem to gather their own fan club at the shows and events we attend.
